ADRA Uganda, in partnership with Akeyo Uganda Limited, is introducing digital learning tools to help refugee and host communities strengthen their agricultural practices and build more resilient livelihoods.
Four Village Agents in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement have received complete Akeyo digital learning kits under the Savings to Sustainability: Advancing Community Finance and Agribusiness Growth (S2S) project.
Each kit includes a television screen, a solar panel and a lithium battery, enabling Village Agents to share video-based learning materials on climate-smart farming techniques with community members.
The initiative combines digital learning with practical agricultural training. Village Agents will use the kits to demonstrate sustainable farming methods, which participants can then test in demonstration gardens and apply on their own farms. This approach aims to encourage the adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices, improve productivity and incomes, and strengthen food security among refugee and host communities.
The S2S project is implemented by ADRA Uganda in partnership with Akeyo Uganda Limited, with funding from the FAHU Foundation, a private Danish foundation, and ADRA Denmark. The initiative will support a total of eight Village Agents across Kyaka II and Rwamwanja refugee settlements.
Through this approach, the project aims to reach 1,200 direct participants and 4,800 indirect beneficiaries, combining digital innovation, agricultural knowledge and community finance to support sustainable livelihoods.
By bringing practical knowledge closer to farmers, the S2S project is helping communities build the skills and resilience needed to adapt to changing climate conditions and create more sustainable economic opportunities.
