Last week, ADRA Uganda staff participated in a training session on QuAMPlus, Uganda’s upgraded NGO quality assurance and certification standard. The training was facilitated by Emilly Babirye.
The session introduced staff to the purpose and framework of QuAMPlus, developed by CARE Uganda in partnership with the Uganda National NGO Forum. The standard aims to strengthen local organisations and simplify partner due diligence by enabling organisations to demonstrate their credibility through a structured assessment that can be recognised by multiple donors and partners.
Participants explored the 12 pillars of assurance covered by QuAMPlus, including governance, financial management, safeguarding, programme quality, environmental and social responsibility, and partnership and collaboration.
The training also included an interactive discussion, giving staff an opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives and consider how QuAMPlus certification could be recognised in partner assessment processes. The exchange highlighted the importance of reducing duplicated checks, strengthening local partner capacity and creating more opportunities for meaningful collaboration.
Understanding the QuAMPlus framework can help humanitarian organisations explore more efficient approaches to partner assessment while supporting stronger partnerships and localisation within Uganda’s humanitarian sector.
