Across generations, the Seventh-day Adventist Church has been known not only for its message but for its hands — hands that feed the hungry, comfort the grieving, and stand with communities in their time of need. That spirit of practical compassion has a name and a home within the church: Adventist Community Services (ACS).
Today, ADRA Uganda, through its Faith Pathway Pillar, is calling on Seventh-day Adventist churches across the country to revitalize their ACS structures — restoring a vital bridge between the church and the communities it serves.
Why This Matters
ADRA Uganda’s Faith Pathway Pillar is anchored on a clear objective: to build sustainable capacity within SDA churches and interfaith organizations so they can independently manage community outreach initiatives, fostering long-term ownership and resilience in local communities by 2030.
A key part of achieving this is establishing platforms where SDA churches and interfaith institutions are equipped and trained for effective community outreach — enabling them to leverage the trust, networks, and influence they already hold at the grassroots.
A revitalized ACS structure gives every local church exactly that platform. It creates a clear, organized channel through which congregations can identify needs, mobilize resources, and partner meaningfully with ADRA and other stakeholders to serve their communities well.
Kanyanya SDA Church Leads the Way
We are excited to celebrate Kanyanya SDA Church, under the Central Uganda Conference, for taking the lead in this renewed commitment to community service. By re-establishing an active ACS structure, Kanyanya SDA Church has set an inspiring example of what local churches can achieve when they organize intentionally to serve their neighbors.
