Batwa: Conservation Refugees

The Batwa people are one of the oldest surviving Indigenous tribes in Africa. They live high in the mountain forests, straddling several East African countries. The Batwa are now also called conservation refugees, as governments scramble to cope with the pressures of population growth and climate change. Special correspondent Fred de Sam Lazaro reports from western Uganda.

The Karamoja Conflict

Security has yet again eluded Karamoja, home to a million agro-pastoralists with the resurgence of one of Uganda’s highly politicised conflicts – its armed cattle rustling. Known as one of the poorest and least developed in the country, a re-emergence of armed cattle rustling threatens to further complicate the jigsaw puzzle.

Needs Assessment in Adjumani

ADRA Uganda visits South Sudanese refugee transit centre

Finding Happiness

In this video, Pastor Charles Aguilar (our own BC Conference Missionary in Uganda, Africa) presents an amazing and heart-breaking story related to the influx of over 300,000 South Sudanese people to Uganda. Charles as the ADRA International (country Director) was one of the first on the ground to help and provide for the needs of those refugees. During the interview process while dealing with them, he was shocked with the response that he received from some young refugees’ ladies when he asked them about their greatest need. We are certain that your heart will be blessed when you watch this video!
