Danish Embassy Strengthens Coordination Among Refugee Response Partners in Uganda

ADRA Uganda joined fellow humanitarian and development organizations at a strategic coordination meeting convened by the Royal Danish Embassy in Kampala to strengthen collaboration and improve the effectiveness of refugee response programmes across Uganda.

The meeting, held on 12 June 2026 at the Embassy of Denmark, brought together partners implementing activities under the Danish Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA). Participants included ActionAid, CARE, Caritas, DanChurchAid (DCA), the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Oxfam, Plan International, Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU), Save the Children, and ADRA Uganda.

The consultation focused on enhancing coordination mechanisms among partners, assessing the evolving humanitarian and development context, and creating opportunities for knowledge sharing and joint field monitoring. Discussions also explored the possibility of establishing a more formal coordination platform to improve information management, reduce duplication of efforts, and maximize the impact of Danish-funded interventions supporting refugees and host communities.

The Royal Danish Embassy shared updates on Denmark’s development cooperation priorities, reaffirming its commitment to international development assistance and partnership approaches based on mutual interests and shared responsibility. Participants also received updates on the positive mid-term review of the Uganda Bilateral Development Programme (UBDP) and the expansion of the Strategic Application for Youth (SAY+) programme.

During the meeting, partner organizations presented updates on their operational footprints, ongoing projects, and key achievements within refugee-hosting districts across Uganda. The exchanges provided valuable opportunities to identify areas for collaboration and strengthen collective efforts to support refugee and host communities.

Representing ADRA Uganda, Jerry Kiwanuka, Project Coordinator for the STRENGTH Project in Palabek Refugee Settlement, emphasized the importance of regular partner engagement in improving coordination, learning, and accountability within refugee response programming.
