Job Title: Community Support Assistant (UN FAO project)
Duration: 17 Months
Duty Station: Kotido, Uganda

Job Summary: The Community Support Assistant, under the direction and supervision of the Project Coordinator, will work hand in hand with the other program staff to plan, implement, monitor and report on the anticipated UN FAO Project in Kotido District.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Under the direction and supervision of the Project Coordinator, you will work hand in hand with the other program staff to plan, implement, monitor and report on the project and/or ADRA activities in Kotido District
  2. Implement the objectives of the project and ADRA are achieved through adherence to project documents, ADRA’s policies mission and operating principles
  3. Produce monthly analysis reports with updates on the implementation status of the project activities, this will entail flagging areas of concern, developing recommendations for corrective actions to share with the management
  4. In collaboration with the Project Coordinator, develop a work plan on the assigned performance targets and make sure you fill the timesheet
  5. Work closely with the target groups in performing key project activities in fostering food security
  6. Provide ongoing support to the groups and other community structures to implement key food security activities
  7. Continuously gather data on the needs in the communities where you work, participate in needs assessments and development of new proposals to address the identified needs
  8. Support CBO/Gs to link with various development actors who can give them additional support
  9. Comply with ADRA’s MEAL system and periodically compile activity reports
  10. Perform any other duties that are assigned or are incidental to his job

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the Community Support Assistant should have a degree in Community Development, Social Work and Social sciences or relevant degree
  • A minimum of three years of experience required in working in UN FAO projects in Northern Uganda
  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions is desirable
  • Extent and relevance of experience in liaising with governments, multilateral and bilateral development agencies, civil society and communities
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
  • Prior work experience in Northern Uganda, particularly in Kotido District/Karamoja Region, is an advantage
  • Possess computer/word processing skills and should be capable of working with people of different national and cultural backgrounds
