M&E Assistant, General Food Assistance, Kyaka II Refugee Settlement

Job Summary: The M&E Assistant responsible for assisting the execution and implementation of various activities within the Monitoring and Evaluation unit. Provide general support to the unit that will ensure smooth implementation of various planned activities to ensure compliance with ADRA and donor requirement regarding reporting for all commodities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ensuring proper administering of M&E tools for the M&E Unit focusing on achieving the following results:
    • Preparation of field tools for data collection
    • Participate in field pre-testing of data collection tools
    • M&E tools are well administered according to set guidelines to randomly selected interviewees
    • M&E tools used for Data collection properly tagged or serialized for easy tracked/trace
    • M&E tools are administered to the selected interviewees who have been identified as a standardized sampling method
    • Maintaining and collecting data and updating the progress of the work plan
  2. Undertake field trips to distribution points and commodity markets for purposes of data collection
    • Ensuring proper filing of incoming and outgoing M&E documents of various activities within the M&E Unit focusing on achieving the following results:
      • Documents of various activities are well filed in a chronological manner for easy retrieval and references
  3. Provision of secretarial duties for M&E unit, e.g. photocopying and printing of M&E tools
    • Ensuring the provision of general assistance to the M&E Unit to ensure smooth execution and implementation of various activities of the M&E unit focusing on achieving the following results:
      • Providing assistance in organizing, arranging and scheduling of various activities within the M&E Unit
    • Assist in community sensitization and mobilization of various project activities aspects
  4. Perform any other duties incidental thereto and/or a may be assigned by the Head of Program

Required Experience

  • Excellent verbal & oral communication skills
  • Good verbal and written English
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure, manage time and prioritize work to deadlines
  • Willingness to learn on the job and willingness to improve and adapt
  • Creative and adaptable working prepared to travel to Field visits, Meetings and training
  • Comfortable in planning and delivering multiple activities under pressure
  • Deadlines and high levels of precision
  • Thorough attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Punctuality and respect for rules and procedures
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to work independently, with minimal supervision and well under pressure
  • Able to work as part of a team in a co-operative and supportive way, particularly with staff for whom English is not their first language
  • Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding work-related information and data

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in M&E, Development Studies, social science, education, statistics preference to someone with strong applied knowledge of survey CTO or ODK or Telerivet
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in monitoring, evaluation and reporting of projects and programs
  • Excellent track-record in project management
  • Experience of field data collection and survey mechanism
  • Computer literate and competent with Microsoft office and other data management systems, as required
